ARPA has been awarded the 2026 NOVA Prize for Innovation in Industrial Processes, a recognition granted unanimously by the jury during the Exposolidos / Polusolidos / Expofluidos 2026 exhibition.
This award recognises the energy innovation project developed by ARPA for the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital, an initiative that marks a milestone in the application of hydrogen in critical infrastructure in the healthcare sector.

A pioneering hydrogen-based model
The energy backup system designed by ARPA makes the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital a benchmark in the use of hydrogen as an energy vector, both as a resource to guarantee energy supply and for medical applications.
This comprehensive approach represents a significant advance in terms of safety, resilience and sustainability, setting a new standard in hospital energy management.
Among the main innovations of the project are:
- A pioneering hydrogen-based energy support system, designed to ensure operational continuity in critical environments.
- The reuse of surplus renewable energy, promoting efficiency and resource optimisation.
- The incorporation of a hydrogen boiler for thermal energy generation, contributing to the decarbonisation of the system.
- The development of a digital twin and a predictive manager, which enable optimisation of operations, anticipation of incidents and reinforcement of system security.
Innovation at the service of strategic sectors
The project has received support from CDTI Innovation and the European programme NextGenerationEU, reflecting the initiative's alignment with strategic priorities in the areas of energy transition, technological innovation and strengthening critical infrastructure.
This recognition demonstrates how the combination of advanced engineering, digitalisation and clean energy can transform essential sectors such as healthcare, accelerating the transition towards a more sustainable and decarbonised energy model.
Commitment to excellence and sustainability
Winning the NOVA 2026 Award reinforces ARPA's position as a leading company in the development of innovative solutions for highly demanding technical and operational environments.
This achievement is the result of the commitment, technical expertise and strategic vision of the entire team, which continues to work to promote projects that contribute to building a safer, more efficient and sustainable future.
